Our History

From a single-product louver manufacturer in New Jersey to a global architectural specialty company, Construction Specialties has grown by focusing on one principle: make products that solve real problems in buildings, backed by test data.

1940s

Founded in Lebanon, New Jersey

Construction Specialties begins manufacturing architectural aluminum louvers for the post-war commercial building boom, addressing the need for HVAC ventilation openings that resist wind-driven rain.

1960s

Entry Flooring Innovations

Development of the Pedimat entrance matting system — one of the first purpose-engineered recessed entry mat products — addressing the problem of tracked-in dirt damaging newly common commercial carpet.

1980s

Acrovyn Wall Protection Launch

The Acrovyn line addresses the growing demand from healthcare facilities and schools for wall surfaces that resist impact damage without requiring constant repainting.

2000s

Global Expansion & BIM Integration

Establishment of manufacturing and distribution in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. First in Division 10 to offer native Revit BIM families for all product lines.
